I bought a new Canon MG5620 last year. I only printed a few edible photos and left the colored cartridges in the printer. Recently I bought a cleaning kit and new cartridges. My son cleaned the printer head and all parts thoroughly, put in the new cartridges and every time I have tried to print anything the picture comes out greenish yellow. Any suggestions on how I can correct the colors?
Thanks for any help you might offer.

So sorry, Shirley, I cannot help you. I do not have an edible printer.

My first one Sandra and I think I don’t really know how to use it properly.

Hi Shirley, I think you should check that the magenta color cartridge is working on printing (even if it is new)! Take it out and shake it a little and check that it is leaving color on a piece of kitchen paper from underneath. If that is not an issue and it is working well you need to make a few more head cleaning print outs. The most common problems with inkjet printers is that if you do not use them frequently inks usually dries out so it needs more head cleaning to work again!

I will try both suggestions Elena. I thought the problems was in leaving the cartridges in all these months without using them. But after Josh cleaned it so well and add the new cartridges I thought it would work well. Nope. I will defintely check the Magenta, but might as well check all of them to see if others are clogged or not working. Thank you, I will get back to you after I try your suggestions.

Hi Shirley -when I installed the cartridges I left one of the plugs in the top of each cartridge, which meant that the ink couldn’t be drawn out to print… all my images came out a sepia/not right colour. because I kept trying to test print I created a vacuum inside each cartridge… all I had to do was to remove the plug/bung on the top of each cartridge and let them sit – I went and did some other jobs – so it was probably an hour or so until the balance returned and they were right as rain… – hope that helps – with the ones that I bought you can also get ink to refill the cartridges rather than replacing them… hope that helps.. good luck – I know how frustrating it is when you print and everything is out of whack :) AnnieO.

I will check and try that Annie. Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll get back to you and let you know if it works for me.

hello, did you already googled you’re problem with you’re printer? You can almost find any problem to help you! I also suggest, to call or to go to the shop were you buy your cartridges and ask this on this people who just work in inktcartridge and printer shops. That my little advice, but what Elena and CakesAnnietime says , is also a very good answer to help you! Wish you good luck, kind regards Greet, Bruges/Belgium.

Thank you Greet. I ordered the cartridges online but if all else fails I will call Canon who makes my printer and the company who makes the cartridges.

My friend has had problems with hers. Canon seems just to say using edible inks invalidates their warranty. I googled ‘canon printer edible ink greenish yellow’ and several interesting answers that might help came up.

Also I have had advice that an edible printer needs to be turned on once a day. Hope you find something that helps.

Hmm. I thought the Canon I bought, the MG5620 was meant to be used strictly as an edible image printer. I didn’t think about turning on the printer once a day, but I do blame my problem on leaving those cartridges in place for so long. I have been told since they should be removed and stored in plastic zip bags until the next use.
I will Google What you tried and see if it comes up with some type of solution on how to correct the color. Thank you!
