Wanting to shout at a customer!
I made a handbag cake recently and the person that ordered it couldn’t collect so she sent a friend to come and collect it. When she arrived, it wasn’t boxed and was sat on the table. 
She seemed to be in a hurry and just said “oh is that the cake”, gave me the money and went to grab the handbag cake by the handle!!
For the first time ever, I nearly shouted at a customer! Instead, I made a kindof involuntary squeal and she stopped…thankfully just before she tried to lift it! Her hand was on the handle, it was so close!
She was very nice as I explained that she needed to hold the board (once she’d tapped and poked the fondant covered board to see what it was made of) and the cake made it safely to the boot of her car.
So I was just wondering if anyone else had any similar experiences or am I just getting grumpy in my old age. I’m normally quite tolerant as customers tip or poke their cakes!

One of my customers did that but it had already been delivered, he pulled the handle right off. However the customer called me and I told her that I could fix it, so I went to her house, and repaired it on the spot, and the birthday girl got her surprise. Here is the link to the bag. Omg seriously? 😂 common sense anyone? Who tries to lift a cake by the handle? Maybe we all need to use that tutorial by Mayen for the handbag which actually can be lifted by it from now on…
It means she thought it really was a bag! That’s a good thing! But I have raised my voices, or quickly said “No!” People just don’t realise how delicate they are. You are not getting grumpy!

Good to know it’s not just happened to me. Maybe I’m not getting grumpy and I guess I should take it as a compliment. And Sawsen, I was thinking of Mayen’s handbag cake too :)

I made a Spiderman cake once and at pick up while talking to the little lads Mum he took spidies head off. Now when he comes (they are regulars) I point at him with a smile and tell him to keep his hands to himself but inside me is an inner ninja waiting to break his arm if he steps too close!!!

I haven’t had anything quite that drastic, but the amount of people who come to collect their cake and go to pick it up around the middle not from underneath the board is just amazing. I think they think it is indestructible and then they go and squeeze it on the floor of the passenger seat, NOOOO! These cakes are my babies I have worked so hard on them. My hubby always reminds me, once it leaves my house it is not my worry anymore :( x

It honestly goes through me when customers pick up cakes, cos they really dont understand what they are made from……my biggest pet hate is when they have hold of the board with both hands then just sink their thumbs into my lovely covered board!!!!
Ive now started carrying then out to their cars myself and putting them on their knees. Once the cake has gone, I dont care what they do with them! :-)
