Cake International - London - March 2015 - Is anyone going? Advice for a first timer!

Hi
Is anyone going to Cake International in London this weekend? I am going on the Saturday (all being well) with my poor husband for the very first time. I am looking forward to going….although worried/nervous (I hate crowds lol) in case it is really busy?!!! ;)

I went to the cake and bake show a couple of years ago and it was so busy that you could barely move in places….I gave up trying to look at any stalls! I left without buying anything and sore feet though I did enjoy looking at the small selection cakes on display.

Does anyone have any tips? I know that the Fifty shades of cake and the Cake Masters sugar Eggs collection will be on display. Will all the cakes have been judged by then? Will they have the makers name on?

All excited….and nervous…and I am not even entering, I think I’d be unbearable if I were! Hope everyone entries are going well :)

Hi there. Yes I’m going and exhibiting in the eggs section and Fifty Shades of cake section too…
All I can say is your going to have a wonderful time being inspired by so many gorgeous design from people all over the UK as well as international visitors too. It’s broken down into section ( ie wedding cakes, novelty cakes, sugar flowers, cupcakes, sculpted cakes etc)
Best to go and look it all up on the website

I’m there from Thursday all the way till Sunday and hope to meet some of you if going.
Enjoy and you can take your camera and take pics too.
And there are suppliers stalls at one ends as well, so if y feel like a little indulgent spend, then pop across to see what y can buy… But be prepared… It’s crowded!!

I’ll be there on Friday morning to deliver my competition entries, I’m also part of the Cake Masters sugar egg collection. So excited!!! :D
You’ll really enjoy the show, it’s amazing!! So many amazing cakes on display!!

I know how you feel about crowds (they make me nervous too) The first time I went to Cake International I was worried about this also, but it’s not too bad if you can be there early. There are quite a few tables in the eating area where you can sit down for a break, there is also plenty of space around the sides of the competition tables so if it does get a little crowded you can step back until there is more space. I have done this a few times myself :)

As you are going on Saturday, the names of the competitors will be on their award badges so you can see who has made them.

I can’t be there on Saturday, but I’ll be back again on Sunday afternoon to take another look around and collect my cakes after the show.

You can take as many pictures as you like at the show. It’s a great atmosphere, and there is so much to look at and enjoy! – You’ll love it!!

Laura I agree with the first time nerves and feeling totally out if it!!!
I was new in the cake world when I first entered in 2012 and didn’t know a soul!!! I felt the size of an ant, but wow, was I blown away with all the incredible talent!!! It’s such an inspirational high as its so fascinating to look at the range of techniques, design ideas and the standard in all facets of cake decorating.
And what lovely people cake decorators are. It’s an all encompassing fabulous experience.
See you there Laura with our eggs!!! Good luck with your other entries.
