I am a self-taught, home-based professional cake designer and decorator. I started CakeyCake when I was on maternity leave with my daughter (then 6 months old) and have been overwhelmed by the interest in my cakes. I advertise solely on Facebook and rely on word of mouth and repeat business. Every cake is a learning curve and I am an unapologetic perfectionist, so am often up into the wee small hours perfecting my cakes... but then I don't know many cake decorators that aren't!
