Krystle of Dessert by Design

Hi all! My name is Krystle and I’m a proud (stay at home) momma of four crazy kids!! Started baking along side my grandmothers when I was little – but didn’t start doing anything beyond “slapping some icing on” a cake until 2012 (after my epic fail of making my son a Thomas the Train cake for his 2nd birthday!) But – thanks to the wonderful world of cakers who share tutorials on pretty much EVERYTHING – and my pure stubborn, I mean dedication to do better, I learned all about fondant (which I had no previous experience) and started practicing every chance I got! As I plan my youngest 1st birthday this month, I have a little bit of mom-guilt over what my three older got for their first birthdays, but I think I make up for that a little bit with each birthday :) I especially love working on 3D cakes – something about starting with a large sheet of cake that you trim, carve and build up into something totally new that really makes me happy
