Hi I’m pretty new to decorating and would like to create the bottom tier of this cake but not really sure how to do this. Has anybody got any tips, tricks or tutorials to help :)
I have made one similar with ruffled circles, pinching the centre of the circle, so that it pulls it together. but mine were with quite small circles. so I would suggest maybe a 1 and a half-2 inch circle for this

Martina if I was going to create this cake I would cut out fondant circles, ruffles the edges and then kind of fold the circles up and flair out the folds to get this ruffle look.
Not sure if that is the correct way to create this or not but that is how I see it. Hopefully someone who has actually done this technique can give you how they did it.
Hi,I have made a similar cake and it took me about 6 hours: I cut out circles, ruffled them around the edges and folded them into little flowers then set them upside down on a cookie sheet to dry for a little while before pressing them onto the side of the cake, and I used 50/50 fondant/gum past
Thanks a million. I’ll give the circles a go :)
I did a similar technique for pedal ruffles, but I used a small 5 pedal cutter and then scrunched it up. Warning, it does take a long time!!
