Is it cheaper to make cake from scratch or but cake mix

HI Amber, This will depend entirely on your quality of ingredients and the customer base that you would like to attract. I personally bake from scratch with free Range eggs, couverture choc and the Highest quality ingredients I can get my hands on. But this is just me.. Every Cakie will use different ingredients and different methods for their business. You just need to work out your target market first then decide how you would like to grow your business.. I only use the best ingredients but I also charge for the best ingredients .. everyone will be different and have different opinions, you need to work out what works best for you. :-)

How do I find the tarfet market like I jus started and am selling my cakes for super cheap jus to build se clientele to get my name out there but I want to make my cakes from scratch but I don’t kno a lot of ppl wit the money to pay for wut the cakes would run I feel like I should ask them wut there budget is andaybe that’s how I should debate on scratch or box plus I jus started and I feel like I’m good but not good enough to have someone spend hundreds on my work I feel like nobody looks at me like I’m professional cuz I jus started and my friends r the first to buy from me n they kno that how do I start this I want to be successful and I need advise I need help making a buisness plan

Better to go scratch. Despite the preservatives in the box I have found that scratch cakes stay fresher longer and taste much better and you have more control over your product. There are some super recipes on allrecipies.com that you can play with.

box is cheaper, and I only use it in a desperate pinch. Other than all reasons already listed to go home made…box cakes are very light…they don’t hold up well. More difficult to work with as far as decorating. At least that’s my experience.
