As I look around Cakes Decor I see that many of you use Chocolate Mousse in your cakes.
Can someone please tell me what it is because it sounds AMAZING!!
Thank you Xx

I would equate it to chocolate pudding except it is a light fluffier and airier than pudding. It is very yummy.
I never made it but there are several receipts on internet

Laura, Mousse au Chocolat, can’t be more French that that :-) it is one of the most typical French creme/desserts; the only drawback is that if you are afraid of using raw eggs in desserts, than this is not for you. I don’t use it cos I am too scared of salmonella and where I am, I will only use eggs cooked.. I suggest checking French recipes for authenticity, if you need translation, let me know :-)

Hi Laura, actually chocolate mousse is like to make chocolate ganache but instead mix the melting choco with the cream in liquid form, you need to mix the melting choco with whipped cream (some recipe add eggs to the mousse). There are so many recipe that you can find. If you afraid with the raw eggs, use the pasteurized eggs or use the recipe without eggs like i told you . Hope i can help you :)
Thank you all so much!!
Dina, I don’t like using raw eggs in anything either (it scares me)
I think I’ll just keep to buttercream and ganache for now.
Thank you everyone!! Xx
