Rice Crispie Treats?

Hello!

I am preparing for a competition and need to use RCT for a component of a cake, but can’t find a very good recipe! So I was wondering if anyone has one that I could use! Thanks! ☺️

Sorry Woody I don’t make my rct’s, I buy mine. Maybe someone will have a recipe to share.

This is the recipe on the Kellogg’s marshmallow bag: 2 tablespoons melted butter, 5-1/2 cups miniature marshmallows and 6 cups Rice Crispies. Melt the marshmallows and butter in the microwave. Start with 2 minutes on high, stir, microwave for 30 second intervals until melted, stirring after each. Work the Rice Crispies in by hand until thoroughly blended and compressed. You will have to let it cool for a bit before forming into shapes. NOTE: Grease everything including your hands because it is really sticky! You can also melt the butter and marshmallows on the stove top, if desired. Just stir until completely melted.

Not sure that Woody can get Kellogg’s rice crispies in the UK. But any rice crispies type cereal will do. I’ve tried this recipe Sandra, and I found it too “soft” to mold with. Somewhere I read, you use less marshmallows to make a stiffer rice crispy square. Or leave the pan of rct’s out on the counter to get a bit stale, dry out a little, easier to work with. And…if I make the Kellogg’s recipe I’ll eat the whole pan….there soooo good warm.

Yea, you can get Kellogg’s in uk Sandy and June 😋 But any will do. I use good old tesco’s. Hahaha
I use 250g mini marshmallows, heart them in microwave for 2 minutes, add 150g Rice Krispies and use a wooden spoon (that I coat with Trex) and blend in… It’s a sticky business …. I don’t use butter in recipe either now as it was also too soft for me. But I guess it’s all down to ratios. But I use this for all my rkt work.
Like June, I let it harden a while. If it gets too hard,mi pop it into microwave for 30 seconds. Then you can remould.
Ps: melted marshmallows make for excellent “glue” when adhering rkt to armetures :)
See you at CI Woody and good luck 🤗

Hahaha 😂😂😂 June… I am so badly disciplined with “cake shavings” (when carving) and so pleased my husband (affectionately called Rover by us all) is around to gobble up most… But rkt does not tempt me as I don’t like rice crispies… I’m so pleased to say!!! 😂😂😂

Lucky you Calli…

I’ve made them omitting the butter. Couldn’t tell a lot of difference. Besides, butter makes them more yummy and I eat half of them while I’m forming my figure – lol! RCTs covered with MMF is super delicious (in my opinion :o))

Hahaha Sandra ….butter is my downfall, I love it!!! so just as well I’m not adding… Then I would be eating it. 😜😜😜 I’ve added chocolate to it for my three grandchildren, they love it!!

I use Debbie Browns recipe, I think it’s in all her books, it works for me and it tastes really good too.
