New Cake Decorator

Well hello there! My name is Haley and I’ve always loved baking- a talent handed down from my grandmother to my father to me! I’ve only recently begun playing around with decorating my cakes with anything other than a nice thick layer of frosting though! My friends have been telling me for years I should open up a bakery and I’ve finally begun seriously considering the idea (though I’m still quite a ways from having a company up and running). I’ve been spending as much time as I can find outside of my 9-5 to look up inspiration, watch online tutorials, and try my hand at various techniques. I have a few upcoming up events where friends have graciously agreed to let me create a cake for them and I’m super excited to try out the ideas I have in mind! I’ve included photos of 2 of my recent creations. The first is a Halloween cake I made for a friend’s party this last fall, inspired by a technique I found on Pinterest. It would have turned out better with a fondant base instead of frosting but it sure did taste good and everyone loved it! And the second I made for a friend’s baby shower- my first attempt at fondant. I was pretty pleased with the results! I can’t wait to post pictures of my future cakes and take advantage of the inspiration and advice available here!
