Cake dummies size

Hi I would like to get some help here if posible :)))

A few months ago I started drawing some cake designs and ever since was dieing to go ahead and try them out at the same time try new techniques so went ahead and bought cake dummies according to the cake design I have chosen to do my dummies arrived I stacked them up and guess what disaster it looks horrible together I am devastated what a waist of money.

On that note I was hoping if you could share your favourite 3 or more tier cake size combinations that works for you and maybe attach a photo of the cake along the side so I can picture it better :)

Thanks

I have also bought cake dummies so that I can trial my daughter’s wedding cake. I made a paper model first to check for the look and size we wanted before investing in the dummies. I did it in 2D and 3D – but quite honestly the 2D gave me a very good idea. Might be worth trying this out before buying anything again?

There are some online cake drawing tools to help you get an idea what your shape will look like. Maybe try one of those first next time x

When I make a 3 tier cake, the sizes are usually 10", 8", and 6".

Hi thanks for your reply
I did draw it on paper calculated everything so it’s allacordingly to the size and it’s still a mess :( I was thinking about buying that cake stacker app it’s damn expensive £7 for app !!!!! Maybe anyone can recommend program or website where I can do it online?

So sorry you had such a bad experience. I tend to sketch out my design first, then buy the dummies. I use dummies mainly for exhibition and magazine work.
Here is an example of dummy cakes I used for Cakes International in 2013. They take some getting used to and actually find them harder to cover thank actual cakes, because they are so light. I use a little icing to keep them fixed onto the board while working on it.
These are royal iced. Good luck and dont give up… :) and your money is not wasted, keep the dummies for another project. They wash up perfectly in the dishwasher, or just left to Soak off in a basin.

Calli that cake is phenomenal <3<3<3 I would love to make something half as amazing one day! Ausra try the bakingit website. Same owners as the app (I didn’t like the app btw) but the site is free xx

Thanks Sawsen, so kind… Thanks also for the tip on bakingit, will check it out as well. I order my dummies from either dummies direct or from Doric Cakes
