First Time!

Hi there – very long story, cut about 50 years short: Himself and I were looking to invest some money we had inherited and we were also sick of where we were and what we were doing. 3 years ago I had bacterial meningitis, he was working for minimum wage and being shouted at all the time in a garden centre restaurant, so we changed everything!

We left the UK and we found ourselves a wood fired bakery/boulangerie in Nice, France. We sign the final papers and get handed the keys on Tuesday of this week after nearly a year of French bureaucracy and hopping backwards and forwards.

The place currently doesn’t do much by way of patisserie, but since announcing that it will be as soon as we get the keys we already have orders coming in for wedding cakes and such. Not to mention a long list of recipes to try out in the shop!

I won’t be here often, I suspect, since I get up at 6 and get to bed about 10pm, and himself gets up at midnight to light the oven and bake the bread, climbing back into bed at about 4 in the afternoon. But hours aside, once we have everything swinging properly we should be able to post up the odd pic or three.
