So I’m Melanie to my mum and Mel or Mellie to most others! I live in Yorkshire (Tour de France starting here tomorrow although not near me!) in the north of England. I’m a mum of four beautiful, funny, demanding kids…

Like so many others I started out making cakes for their birthdays and the obsession took hold. Self taught, from the internet mostly, I’ve learnt so much just from being a member of CakesDecor and have made lost of friends who are opening all sorts of exciting doors for me as I continue on this sugary adventure. I started decorating more regularly at the start of 2013 and gradually started a business, pushed and prodded by my friends. I work from the family kitchen, like many of you I’m sure, which isn’t ideal and I dream of having a separate ‘cake space’! I have much still to learn but am loving it.

I’ve been married to Richard for 14 years, he isn’t happy that all the cakes now leave through the front door! ;)

Before having my much longed for first baby I was an early years teacher but can’t see me going back to it…too many cakes to make! My next practical challenge is to make my cakes more profitable so I can justify not teaching!

I love to play netball but got injured badly last year and am missing it dreadfully. On a mission to get fit again and hopefully one day return to it. Finding time away from the children and the cakes (my twin loves!) isn’t making getting fit easy!
