Hi all, might be a bit of a funny question but I’m hoping someone can help me even if it’s just to put the nagging nelly of doubt to bed but…I received a message from a ‘member’ I guess, on here enquiring about one of my cakes. I answered her question politely and then she asked, as you do when enquiring, how much. Now normally I have no problem with this but I always, ALWAYS, check profiles etc for locality ( I don’t like to have people waste their time or mine spending half an hour plus asking questions just to find out they live 300 miles away! ) Anyway, this lady had no picture ( ok ) and absolutely no details about who she was or where she was from. No posts, blogs, cakes or anything ( not ok? ). Not a single thing. I am very wary about things like this as im of the mindset that if you have nothing to hide then you give up a little of something about yourself so people can trust you. Im not sure whether to give this lady the answers she wants or just leave it..what do you think?? Am I being a bit daft?
I would be wary too. My first instinct is either they are trying to run a scam on you or they are going to try to make a duplicate of your cake and they do not know what to charge the person asking for your cake.
Unfortunately I am a very skeptical person with people I don’t know in person.
I would feel the same way!
I would have all the same feelings as you are having about it, definitely.
Leave the conversation hang. If they aren’t willing to give you information in return, I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
Thank you both. I have been burnt in the past which has made me very untrusting. I shall leave it. Thanks again :)
I think that is just odd. If I liked one of your cakes I would not ask how to make it and the price you charged for it. I wouldn’t answer. I never mind giving out helpful info to others but that whole situation is weird. I agree 100% with the others, don’t answer the question.

Always trust your gut instinct Cath. When there’s no info on a members profile page…my radar goes up. And I think I agree with the rest. Her questions was Impertinent. How do you know she’s not a competitor in the same area where you live just fishing for info??
Creativity is God's gift to us. Using our creativity is our gift back to God. Clarky's Cakes 😎
Either she was trying to duplicate your cake and wanted to know how much to charge or she was a competitor being nosy and wanting to know how much you charge!
My prices are all open so I would answer her questions, but not everyone likes sharing pricing.

I think that it’s useless to ask anyone what they charge unless you’re a buying customer! What I charge for my cakes in my locality has nothing to do with what someone else should charge even right down the road…IMHO! I think it’s a scam…don’t get caught up in it – not worth it!

I guess I’m not the only one who is suspicious of vague requests. Stay away from this person.
