It’s interesting to note the mesmerized expression on the face of an autistic child’s mum when she describes her child. Of what she has learnt which she wouldn’t have otherwise (bluntly putting it, as the world would say, from what she would have learnt from a normal child). The general feeling is that they are looked upon with Pity, both parents and children. Let’s help change that.
In a world lacking focus, one that is getting lost in self-centeredness and cynicism, these kids stand out. With their simple yet profound wisdom, they seem to know where they are going, what they are doing. They teach us how to derive joy out of the day to day simple activities, which we would have otherwise defined as mundane tasks. As someone once said “they teach us how to live outward by looking inwards”. Let’s try to see what they see.
MY art piece is dedicated to these children and I hope it does justice to how beautiful they a
This cake speaks about my hero: the mother of an autistic child and how we as the universe should work on becoming that hero too.
The mother is depicted to be watching her child’s back at various stages in his life( (baby, toddler, 6-7 yrs old, grown up young man). The toddler as seen on the cake is slightly different compared to the other figurines, this is the stage when a child starts showing signs of being on the autistic spectrum- symbolized by the rainbow. A mother is confused as she is figuring out what her child is going through, yet watching his back. The mother progresses up to accepting her child’s uniqueness and loving him the same. She sees what he sees.
The tree on the top depicts the rest of the universe, and how like the mother , we should be the child’s hero too and with all our love, learn to see what she sees.
I have used Justin Canha’s Art titled “ Mother and child” for inspiration
