Hi everyone,
I’m new to cake making and only really make them for family, usually my granddaughters birthdays
My eldest granddaughter has asked me to make her 1st holy communion cake & has seen a cake online she loves.
I’m ok with the baking and most of the decorating but it has a mannequin with a dress on & a dressing table & stool topper. I have NO idea how to create these!
The event is in 2 weeks & im already stressed!
I’ve tried uploading the photo but no success
Just seen the cake on Google xxx you would use flower / modelling paste to make these it sets really hard .Try renshaws paste xxxx
I looked for the cake and did find it. Have been trying to find some tutorials to help you achieve it but have not been successful. Like Amanda mentioned you should use gumpaste which sets hard. I found this tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-TMQASlMxo that might help you with the stool. You would not put the back & sides but will at least give you an idea on how to go about it. If I find anything else, I will let you know.
Okay tried looking for a tutorial on the dresser and found made from polymer clay but would work the same for gumpaste. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWHyBQbEjBI This might also help you with the dress. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tl18AT3Af9I You would simply do this shape in gumpaste. Then roll out some thin gumpaste and drape it like a dress over it. I am going to see if I can find a template for you for the dressing table. Hope this helps you.
Thank you all so much!
My stress levels are still quite high but all of your advice is certainly going to help
