how to use these alphabet stencils

hi,

im new to this world and very excited to try new things – i purchase these but have no idea how to really use them and what on, i thought it was to imprint on fondant and then i can go over it with icing but cant imprint just one letter then i tried to use it as a cutter but that didnt work – i have tried google and youtube but cant find anything – can any help? i thought i might need to break them apart but the plastic looks really thick

Hi alaya, these are called tappits…… you cut the letter out of very thinly rolled gumpaste and turn it over, then bang the icing out with a sharp tap on your work surface. I dust mine with a little powdered sugar first to help release them. Hope this helps xx

A little hint… sometimes even with the flicking bang motion they still stick. Like Christine I use a lot of powdered sugar and then I sometimes take a pin and push in a corner to help start the letter releasing.
