I started creating cakes this past February. I found some semi- homemade cake recipes on the Internet. Which, my clients seems to like. (Cake mix, four, sugar, sour cream, etc) Being a newbie, I got a lot of cake pans that are 2in deep. I am not happy with the heights of my cakes😔. ( about 4 -41/2in. with filling) The only problem is that the recipes batter is only enough for 2 of the 2in. Cakes. I tried some homemade recipes that I found on the internet and they were not good!!. So now, I am gun shy to try any recipes from the internet because I keep having to throw out the cake and lose money on it. Does anyone mind sharing your basic recipes (white, yellow, chocolate) with me? I know that this is a lot to ask from you. Also ,I am confused as to how much batter to make for larger cakes. (10in., 12 in, etc.) I have been asked to do 4-weddings next year. So, as you can imagine I am very nervous!!! That you all for all of your support as I grow my home cake business 😊

Hi there,
Have you tried looking on Pinterest, there is a huge cake baking and decorating family on there too who are willing to share their recipes and techniques with us, I have had lots of great ideas from there. Good Luck with your cakes :0)
I’ve made a number of recipes from http://www.cakepaperparty.com/ and have been happy with them. The most recent one was buttermilk chocolate cake with butterscotch buttercream. I filled it with peanut butter filling and it was sooo delicious. My niece is still talking about it. Also liked this vanilla cake http://www.karascouturecakes.com/perfect-vanilla-cake. This one I did use the fillings listed. It was delicious. As far as batter for larger pans, I use the recipe conversion (at the bottom) http://www.sweet2eatbaking.com/conversion-guide/. Not sure how everyone else does it. I only bake for my family so I might not be the best person to advise you but hope this helps.
Thank you Goreti for your help!

Your welcome
Lizzo Marek has a great vanilla cake and she shares it. It is posted on a sheet that shows the vanilla, lemon and chocolate recipe and conversions for single, double and triple recipes. Google artisan cakes or Elizabeth Marek.
