Hi, I wonder if you guys can help me out, I am relatively new to the world of wedding cakes and so far my customers have chosen the option of having the cake setup and delivered to the venue by myself however I have a customer who has chosen to collect a 3 tiered birdcage style cake. My question is how do I send the cake out of my door? It will be fully stacked. When I take a cake to the venue I have a reusable large heavy duty box with lid but these boxes are very expensive and for the cost of a box I may aswell have delivered it myself. My standard celebration boxes are just the typical 6" high white boxes which whenever I have a celebration cake they never have a lid on as my cakes are always to high to put the lid on. What does everybody else do please ? I would greatly appreciate your input. Thanks Nicola x
Hi nicola
Not sure where you are located. . In th Uk you can pick up plain white boxes especially for wedding cakes … though not sure how strong they are x

Hi Nicola, I also use the heavy duty cake boxes, so I know they are expensive!! Could you let them take it in the box but say please could you have it back after the wedding?? hopefully they wouldn’t mind to bring it back?? :-) x

Need the price for the cake to include the cost of packaging and discuss that when you return packaging the money is returned ,and if not returned ,you can buy a new package

not sure if I’m too late for this – but I’m in the uk – I bought a heavy duty cake box that’s very deep (takes at least 4 tiers) with a special cut out in the bottom for round or square cakes its not cheap about £16.00, I also lend a nonslip rubber mat for transportation I always ask for the mat & box back and have been lucky so far that they have always been returned – here is the link – they have handle holes
