Help me with RKT :) Please

Hi everyone. I
I put the first steps in working with RKT and I encountered a few problems, I count on your help and experience.

I found a standard recipe for RKT (I think so :)), after taking a mass is sticky and formed well until it is warm when it cools down it sticks harder. It was a little after the last cake so I hid in the fridge, and today it turned out that, the RKT was little sticky and quite strongly crumbles, hard to form. Is it always like this or is it just me going on? I may have a bad recipe or something I’m doing wrong. Please help, as I appreciate all the advice. Best regards – Eliza :) xoxo

Would help Eliza if you posted your recipe….then perhaps we can figure out the problem.

Hi Eliza!… I had exactly the same problems… ended up scrapping the RKT for my project.
Since then, I came across a fab tutorial by Lizzo Marek.
Haven’t tried to use RKT since seeing the tute… but prob will, one day, when a design requires it.
Hope it helps:

Okay so for the rice crispies I use 16 oz bag of marshmallows and 6 cups of rice cereal and 3tbsp butter..i melt the butter and marshmallows over need low heat.. Remove from great and stir in the cereal. Then I place into another container to let cool faster and let sit 10 min or so. Then I form it into the shape I want and take a greater or zester and scrape it smooth. Next I cover it in melted chocolate and once https://pic.cakesdecor.com/o/WP_20150128_004_pjqjea.jpg!
that hardens I scrape I smooth again before decorating in fondant. Hope this helps.. Here’s some pics to of before I put fondant on and after

Can you get bags of marshmallows in the grocery store in Poland where you live??? That’s usually the basis for rct’s.

Yes June, with marshmallows no problem, but Kellogs Rice is very difficult to buy, I have a rice as on the photo. My recipe it’s 200 g marshmallows, 160g rice, 50 g butter, I used less rice because it was a bit thick.

Julez – thank you for the link, next time I’ll use this method.

Amanda – many thanks for your help, in my project I used chocolate for your advice, and I received a a smooth effect.

A few photos, I hope that something will come of it ;)

The last photo it’s ready RKT, so it seems to me there is not enough marshmallows and to much rice ;)

I’m so glad I could help.. And it looks great!

Ah yes Eliza….maybe just some extra marshmallows will help your rice cereal stick together better. You know, if you warm up a small amount of corn syrup and work into your rct’s, sometimes you can bring them back to life….. ❤️
