Hi all,
Could someone from Spain (I am currently in Barcelona) tell me how I can find dutch-processed cocoa powder? Does it have a different name here, other than proceso holandés? I read somewhere that the majority of cocoa powder brands in Europe are Dutch-processed, but I cannot find one explicitly stating it. Is chocolate puro the same (e.g Cacao Valor Puro)? Can I buy it at my local market chains?
Thanks,
Domna
I found this article for you that I think will help you. http://www.elrincondebea.com/2010/10/imprescindibles-x-cacao-en-polvo.html
Hi, Goreti Thanks I found this article myself but it’s not very clear if it is the precoessed cocoa when they put ’’pure’’ on the label. It’s a bit confusing, I guess I will try to go to the shop and ask them.
At the bottom, it does say the name of some brands that are Dutch processed. I use Rodelle Gourmet Baking Cocoa but I have to order it on Amazon because I can’t find it in my area.
Yes, for that reason I would also prefer to buy it locally to also avoid delivery costs, I am sure there is a shop selling it, but I need to find it
Hi, I just saw this post, I don’t know it if helps (I am Dutch and live in Spain) but I use the cacao of Valor (sin azúcar) all the time and it works out perfectly. Just like the Dutch cacao powder from home ;-), I really dark and beatiful chocolate cake. Good luck!
Thanks a lot Lara for your reply! I actually bought the same one and it seems to work perfectly so I’ll keep buying this one for my cakes :)
