Ganache For Butter Cake

Good morning all….hope everyone had a great weekend (well for those of us already into Monday Morning that is)…Just looking for some advice re which is the better ganache for a Butter Cake? I usually make mud, but this is for a person who has specifically requested just a plain butter cake, (still researching that one, to find the best..surprised there are so many variations) no filling. I advised that in order to cover with fondant for decorating the way she wants, that I would need to cover the cake with ganache but having never done butter cakes previously, was wondering what most of you would use for the covering i.e. white/milk/dark choc ganache? The cake is for a 4th B’day party but with quite a few adults attending. Thanks guys.

Thanks Jchuck…very interesting…thank you very much for the info…I will give this a go sometime. Its not that they don;t like chocolate, more a case of what the general consensus is on which goes better with butter cake (having never made a ganache covered butter cake before)…as in would you go white/milk or dark choc with this type of cake. Thanks once again, have a great day.

I would do a white chocolate ganache -

I think it all depends on the client. I don’t like white chocolate so I never make white chocolate ganache.

Well Jennifer
If you don’t want chocolate of any kind…. No ganache. Can’t think of a good 1st coat. Only a good thick layer of crusting buttercream. Good luck….
