Having a hard time finding how much tylose powder to add to my fondant so sturdier for figures. Adding to satin ice fondant. What does everyone here use?

Hey miranda, id like to know too. Ive always used gum tragacanth and now I have bought some tylose instead to try.

Tylose is pretty much the same thing as gum tragacanth, but less expensive and more readily available. How much to add depends on how much fondant you are using – Satin Ice is a softer fondant, so when making figures, I add 1 tsp. of Tylose. If I’m using Wilton’s fondant (which I prefer to make decorations), I use 1/2 tsp. You can play it by ear – as soon as you start working in the Tylose, you will feel the change in texture. Adding too much, will cause your figures or decorations to dry too fast and crack. Hope this helps.

Like DJ I usually add 1 tsp of tylose to every 1 lb of fondant.
Thank you xx
