Dome Cupcakes

Hello Everyone!

I get dome cupcakes by setting the temperate of the oven to Gas 5 (375c)
and as soon as I put the cupcakes in the oven I turn the oven down to Gas 4 (350c) and then set the timer for about 12-14 minutes and check them after that, sometimes they need a little longer depending on the mix you are using.

Hope this helps!!

Thank you so much….as soon as you take them out of the oven….does they keep the dome???….because mine always lost the dome form :(

They go down a little bit, I cant say I’ve ever got a completely perfect domed cupcake, but they get the hight that you need. Try adding just a little bit more batter if you want them to be higher.

Experiment with different temperatures to find what works best for you.

Thank you so much for your advice :)

I fill 3/4 of the way full (or one small ice cream scoopful) and usually have no problems getting a dome and it doesn’t seem to matter which recipe, flavour, temp I use. Great visual btw Laura =D

Thanks top both of you…I will lwt you know next time I have to bake some cupcakes :)

If I want a dome, I do like Laura – I pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees and lower the temperature to 350 – that works most of the time. I wouldn’t overfill the cups because you may end up with a deformed cupcake that will need to be trimmed. If I want a flatter cupcake, I set the oven to 325 degrees and bake it a little longer.

You can always create a dome with buttercream – especially if you are covering the cupcake with fondant.
