I made this cake with heaps of inspirations from other decorators so far who’s tapped into the chalkboard cake. CakeMade released a tutorial with Liz Marek from Artisan Cake Company for a chalkboard cake design, and that was a godsend. I knew that I wanted colour rather than just the black and white, after all, there are coloured chalks so why not jazz it up?
The design was heavily woodland inspired with the deer’s antlers at the top, adorned with a beautiful floral bouquet headdress (imagine Bambi wearing one). Love the simplicity of this cake, but with such great impact. The crowd was very taken by this cake at a wedding fair and everyone asked if it was edible – sure is!
