Hello! I have decorated a lovely cake for a very good friend’s birthday this evening, and I used a cardboard cake board. Of course the oils in the icing have stained the board. What can I do to make it look better? It’s not a huge deal since its a present for a friend, but I would like it to look a little nicer. Any suggestions at this point?
You can try covering the cake board with fondant.

I am assuming you already have the cake on the board?? If so… cut out some thin accents from fondant…. flowers, stars, circles….. whatever, and place them on your board. Pretty and they hide a multitude of sins.. :o)

When using cardboard cake boards, I cover with wax paper. That eliminates the oil stains.
And I always put the same size cake on the same size cake board then I place the cake on another cake board or cake drum thats bigger. That way the customer doesnt get to see any oil stains.
