Hello everybody! :) Interesting post today. Reading competition rules and criteria are one thing, but to hear personal experiences from those who’ve entered competitions and to get tips and advice from them is a whole other ballgame. To me, that’s so valuable :) I know alot of fellow bakers who’ve done atleast one competition, that’s why I’ve begun this blog. I want to hear from you with any advice and tips that you’re able to share.
Thanks xx

hi heba i only do cake international i will say firstly read the rules and read them again it must be so hard to put all the hours in and not reap the rewards ,for me i would say it is important to show different techniques but they must be done to the best of your ability .i only ever have achieved gold in the past never had a place although it would be amazing i don’t take myself to serious i love to go to see everyone’s work and meet with cake friends i have met over the years .hope this is helpful

If you are going to challenge the norm – let the judges know that this is what you are doing. E.g. you choose to do something that would typically be done using RI in sugarpaste. First impressions follow normal expectations and that first impression is very important to the rest of the judging process.
Oh interesting, thanks for that tip, Suzanne. :)
