Help needed. Vintage, birdcage, nautical Cake design
Help I have a client who wants me to combine vintage with a birdcage (easy enough) and then to add touches of nautical such as anchors etc. Anyone got any ideas how I can tie them in together without it looking like a “dogs dinner”

Why don’t you do the vintage birdcage cake..but put the nautical theme on the cake board? You could place fishnet on the board and add anchors and small life rings?? Know you could probably pipe a fishnet, but a white hairnet would work too. Laid over some fondant rocks. Perhaps a starfish on the fishnet too.
These are just some if the ideas that popped into my head. Hope this helps.

I think June has a good idea using the base for the nautical element.
You could pick up a blue board with rope wrapped round it trailed up to the cage?
Perhaps you could put anchor buttons on the vintage part?
I like the idea of turning a heart into a birdcage by adding bars and a loop on the top – I found this image which might give you an idea too.
