To ombre or not to ombre?

Hi everyone :-) Looking for your thoughts on my upcoming cake. A friend has asked me to do a simple 8" cake with buttercream icing and maybe a few flowers.

My thought was a single statement flower or a couple grouped together; a fully opened peony, one that is partially opened and then some little green buds. I have included a picture of what I have made thus far to help aid in offering up your thoughts. There is time to change things up such as make both flowers fully opened. I recall once being told that flowers need to be in odd numbers. Is that the case?

I also started thinking of maybe doing the buttercream ombre to add a little something extra or would that be too much? What do you think? I don’t do a lot of floral cakes so I might be over thinking it all.

Thank you in advance for your help,

Kelly

Not sure about the odd numbers thing, I believe any number would do.
An ombre pink starting with the darker at the bottom working its way up to showcase your pretty flowers would look lovely :)

Thank you for your feedback Sumaiya :-) I made a peony bud to add to the mix just because the odd number rule is in the back of my head.

I just placed everything on a cake dummy and am happy with the grouping. I think I will go with ombre buttercream. They look nice on the white but I want that something extra. Pictures will come later tonight.
