I’m designing my daughter’s wedding cake, and as part of the decoration, she’d like hops (her fiance is seriously into brewing).
I’ve found hop leaf veiners, but not sure if making the hops themselves out of sugarpaste will be possible.
Any suggestions welcome :)
Caro. Not sure if this is helpful, it is in Russian but maybe you can learn enough from the photos. I am guessing hers are made of clay but you could do the same with gumpaste or fondant with a bit of Tylose powder mixed in. I think you could make the centers with a cone of gumpaste on a wire but you might also consider the small styrofoam rose cones too.

Thanks, Shirley, I’d seen that picture on a few Pinterest posts, but couldn’t make out if they were real or sugarpaste. It would be great to find either a petal or maybe a leaf cutter of something like the right shape and size. Then, as you suggest, I could build them over a central wired cone. The more I think about it, it might turn out to be fairly easy to do, if I get the right tools
Good luck, post pictures!

This may be of help also http://stranamasterov.ru/node/982666?tid=451
Nice one Goreti. Even in Russian I think the photos are self explanatory.

That’s great, Goreti, shouldn’t be difficult to find the right petal cutter for that :)
