Cake Decorating

How was this done

Hi folks, Pls help. My best friend wants this cake for her wedding. I want to do it but can someone pls help with step by step instructions. It’ll greaty be appreciated. I realised there’s a lil space under the top tier which enables you to see the roses. On how was this done and on what is the top tier. Help!!

The top tier will be on a cake separator……..you can buy these from cake decorating shops and online.
The pleats are folded over fondant and the beads look to be plastic decorations….
Each tier should be iced on a seperate thin cake board, then dowelled for stability…..the top tier is on a thicker cake drum….
They look like they are 12", 10", 8" and 6" cakes…..

I don’t think they are pleats but strips of fondant rolled or made with a ribbon maker and then stuck onto cake after coating with fondant and before roses are added. Measure everything carefully before you begin. It’s sometimes worth buying the same size cake dummies as your cakes and practising first.

I agree with Christine. It looks like it is pleats. If I was do to this I would work from the inside out. The first 2 pleats on each side would be a pizza shape piece of fondant that one side you round the edge of. The third pleat would be created by a single piece of fondant that covers the rest of the cake with a triangle cut out of it and also roll the edge for the pleat look.
