Hi everyone, I want to know what I can do to give my finished fondant cake a shinny look. Please any suggestion will be appreciated. Thank you!

You can steam your cake….but you do need a hand held steamer, or you can apply a glaze. Glaze is 2 parts alcohol to 1 part corn syrup. Brush on, it will be a bit tacky, don’t touch, let it dry. You could increase the alcohol, it will dry faster. You could also use piping gel thinned with either pure lemon extract or alcohol. I would roll out a piece of fondant, let it dry, and experiment and see which technique you like best, if any.
Hope this helps. 💜

Hi Jchuck, thank you so much for the tip. Is there a particular alcohol or any type of alcohol. And thanks for the tips.

Just clear alcohol like vodka or white rum will be fine…

Thanks jchuck, that was helpful. Am self taught. Please can I use glucose in place of corn syrup with the alcohol as I can’t always find corn syrup here in nigeria. Learning from free online classes. I thank God I found this amazing site with wonderful people. Thanks….

Yes, glucose is fine, that’s basically what corn syrup is anyway. 💜
