Cake studio pics

I am in the process of setting up a little area to take all my cake photos . I will not have natural light so I’m wondering if there are any tips for lighting etc people would like to share ? Thank you :)

I use a photo tent with small studio lights (they have white light not yellow) and a white board to bounce light. , so it helps to create a natural look. When I cannot use this, I set my camera for white balance when using the flash, to help control the yellow. If you do not have any of these features, I have successfully used my phone to take pics and then use a photo shop app I downloaded to my phone to adjust the lighting. I hope this helps … I use backdrops like reject wallpaper I pick up at the local diy… Or you can invest in proper laminated backdrops from my friend Brenda at " Sugar a high Inc " or “Ink and Elm” also so the… But quite costly.

I don’t take any of my photos in natural light but I bought some light stands that have white umbrellas on them and I use daylight bulbs. They simulate natural light. The light set I bought is by cowboy studio and I found it on amazon.

I have only just discovered i had a white balance on my camera menu and it makes so much difference. I do not really have much natural light so sometimes my photos took on a yellow tone or a pinky tone which wasn’t wasn’t very attractive. Now with my white balance i just scroll through until the colour looks true.
I also bought two large white boards and i put one at the back of the cake and one underneath the cake which also helps reflect the light and gives me a nice neutral background. :) x
