wrapping tins in paper

Hi I am baking my own wedding cake using this recipe

If I am using anodized aluminium pans do I still need to wrap it in paper?

Normally jencat21, no. Not a regular sponge, or pound cake. Cake release would be fine. But since this is a dense fruit cake, I would line the tin with parchment paper so it hangs over the sides. Much easier to remove the cake from the tin afterwards.

I always line my tins with parchment paper, irrespective what tin it is, and if I’m baking a slow bake cake (like fruit) then I line the outside too and tie with string … It stops outer edges from burning :)

Ah…good tip Cali..wrapping the outside. My Mom use to do that. I haven’t made a fruitcake in years, as I’m the only one in my family that likes it….sigh…… :o(

June I adore fruit cake and so pleased my family do too… Mine is mega boozy and leave to mature for ages … My daughter in law in London said… “I love it so much I could bath in it” hahahaha…. She’s a gem :)
But yes, outside papering stops it drying out and stays nice and moist.

I grew up in a “dry home” Cali. So fruitcake was never soaked in alcohol. Only in apple juice….was still good tho….

Sounds yum… Like the sound of apple, must try that sometime. I made a fruit cake for a buddies hubby who is a reformed alcoholic and used citrus mixed juice as a substitute.. It was yum too…

Yup…all kinds of liquids can be used to wrap and keep moist….
