Garden State Cake Show New Jersey

HI

for the first time we have taken up a booth in Garden State Cake Show and we are planning to sell Fondant toppers. Is anyone else planning to go or has taken a booth. I’m so nervous. Can anybody tell me who have attended the past cake shows, – do many people come to see these shows, do people buy stuff from such stores or they just prefer looking , I’m just so confused. I have made many pieces which I will be putting up for display but am not sure whether to make more toppers for sale too….Any advise, guidance etc will be appreciated.

Thanks

Hello
I am actually going to the GSCS show. This is my 3rd year going. They get a pretty good turn out. It is not as big as the show in Virginia or Maryland but a good show. People definitely buy things at the show. There has never been anyone selling toppers there so maybe this will be new and people will be interested.

Thanks so much. Its such a relief. I specialize in Fondant toppers. since this is my first time doing such shows, i have no clue how much stock to make . I don’t want to make very few, and then have people wanting to buy , and I falling short….neither do I want to make too much and find that people do not buy ….

Since this is your 3rd time doing it, please can you advise what sort of crowd do we have, I mean general public more or professional bakers are there more…

Thanks in advance.

Sorry I guess I should have been more specific. I go to the show as a competitor/buyer. I would not say the crowd going though is professional bakers. The professional bakers are mostly the judges. A lot of general public come to see the show not sure if they are bakers and just didn’t enter or just people who like to see cake shows.

I am sorry I am not really being all that helpful in answering your question on how much stuff to bring or make.

I have been to cake shows for quite a few times and I must say they are lovely. I have been there as a buyer and I love to try the variety available. I don’t think you need to worry as such. Though, I have never put up a stall, but I assure you that you will have a fun time. People do purchase cakes from these stalls. All the very best. Do share your experiences.
