Competitions cakes?

Sammi I have done 4 competitions now. You can use cake or dummies for your pieces. I have used both it totally depends on what I am trying to do. My wizard of oz and Charlie Brown pieces both had delicate pieces to insert so I used cake for these entires since I felt it would give me less resistance. My last show I started the cake 4 months in advance. Most shows have the rule of the entry can’t be more than a year old.

I am totally addicted to competitions now. I say everyone needs to try them at least once. Hope this helps.

it dose thank you… do u have to do a lot of traveling? I cant seem to find anything in my area.

The farthest I have traveled for a competition is 3 hours. I think that may be my limit. I live in NJ and have traveled to MD and VA for a competition.

Samantha, I just went to my very first cake show in March, and entered a cake into competition! It was so much fun, and now I can’t wait to do it again! I had an amazing time taking classes, shopping at all of the venders, and of course seeing all of the absolutely gorgeous and amazing creations! Hope you get to go to one soon!

me too i just wish i could find one close to me. can one of you tell me how much they normally cost? At the moment im just starting out and not making any-money really.

Samantha entry fees for me have ranged from $5 to $10. A lot of competitions will charge more for the first entry and then lower it by a few dollars if you enter multiple categories.
