How to structure a cake so it look like it's hovering off the cake board

Hi guys wondering if anyone can help, I’m looking to replicate this turntable but how do i structure it so it’s floating?? i was thinking of inserting a smaller board underneath and placing a cake card underneath the cake? but not sure if that will work and i haven’t decided how to make those little legs yet any ideas for that??

you guys would be so helpful right now, the pictures below. Many thanks

I would use a cake drum (the 12mm cake boards) edged in black, smaller than the actual cake, and put the cake on a supporting board so the edges of the cake don’t droop.

Hope that helps!! xx

ohh that sounds easier! thankyou, do you know if i could put the cake on a double thick card instead of a board so i can have more cake ?? as the cake is already thin? or maybe thats risky

Yes, I would put the cake on a double thick card too. Still have the drum underneath, maybe even two to give you the height. X

I agree, cake drum is a good plan. look forward to seeing the end result! I have used cotton reels, squares of polysterene from packaging, you name it haha! if it fits, use it, that’s my motto :) xx
