Hi. I’m due to make a horse jumping over a hedge and wondered if anyone had any tips? I’m obviously going to use wires and florist tape for the support structure but I don’t know about the body section. Would all sugarpaste be too heavy? Should I trim a polystyrene into shape? RCT a better option? Any advice would be greatly received.
Thanks
Sharon

Hey Sharon
Wiky Woo Woo cakes just posted a jumping horse. Perhaps you can ask her how/what was used in the making of her horse.

Hey Sharon, I have just made a horse, not jumping but standing and I used silver foil tightly scrunched to make the body and legs as I wanted it to be sturdy enough for the legs to support its body. It worked very well. I haven’t posted it on CD yet as for some reason I can’t post at the moment but it is on my fb page if you want a peek. Good luck with your jumping horse, I will keep a look out for it. X

Thanks Julie. That’s a great idea. I’ve already made it now but will use the foil next time as I used florist tape to try and bulk the body out a bit.
I can’t post photos on her until next Saturday but my horse is looking good so far.
Thanks again
