And can anyone explain the difference between the “like” button and the “fave” button?? And if I pin something, where will I be able to find it and how is that different than going to my list of faves?

you are right. We did a redesign to all of the pages, but don’t worry, you are not the only one who sees it :).

Here are the answers:

• We will add the number of favorites below the cake title
• Like button is a Facebook Like Button – If you click on it, your like will be visible on the Cake If it’s shared on facebook.
• Fave button is “our favorite button”. This works the same way it worked before – number of faves counts to a cake score.
• Pin Button is a Pinterest button – you can use it to pin pages to your Pinterest account if you have one

And since we are already chatting, I have one more question: Why are the “daily top 3’s” called that since often there are as many as 8 top 3’s for a single day???

Daily Top 3 Cakes chart is re-evaluated every hour. If there is a cake that gets higher score than the Daily Top 3 cakes, it is automatically moving up in the chart.

We should probably change that name to “Daily Favorite Cakes” or something like that.

Well, ya miss a couple of days…and Bam, big changes!!! Guess I’ll get use to the new format. I do like the title… “Daily Favourite Cakes”.

It is from an old joke, The Garden Baker, and I always thought it was so funny. Several years ago I was planting an iris bed, on my knees and bent over. The wind was so fierce, it literally blew my blouse off and all the way over my arms before I could catch it. Mike loved it, me not so much.

Hello all! Can anyone please tell me how to Follow another member? I cannot seem to find the “button”. Also, I do not see, on my page, how many members I am following. Am I looking in all the wrong places? Thanks for any help!

howdy all, i got the email notifier that my cake went top 3 but the link only shows my cake photo without the cake decor badge or the widget in it unlike before. not sure why though? is thjs also a new change? Love, Bennett

Sandra,if you are on someone’s cake page, to the left of the cake photo there is a vertical list of icons. The top one with the symbol of 2 people, is the follow icon. If you put your curser on top of it you can see the word “follow”. If you want to follow, just click. Hope that helps. I also can’t see who I am following … or for that matter who anyone else is following :(

Another problem is that all of our comments here on the forum (and also on the cake pages) are not dated. I think it is important to know if a comment is from a year ago, a month ago or a minute ago.

I also wrote to Michal about another issue and haven’t as yet gotten a reply. I have no way of knowing who has faved my cakes (cause it’s just nice to know sometimes). When I click on the fave button (on my own cake) like I used to do to see that info, I end up faving my own cake instead of seeing a listing of others :(

It also makes me difficult to navigate through these new sites, I can’t see and see who liked my work. I see the comments, but I do not see the hearts like. I need to get to know myself better and try and look.

I just noticed something interesting. Before the CD update, if your cake made daily top 3, the daily “top 3” banner was on the bottom of your cake picture. Then the banner stayed forever on your picture in your profile. Now the new cakes posted don’t have the banner. Nothing afterwards to even remind you, months later, your cake ever made top 3. I just checked my pictures on my page, and any of my former top 3 cakes no longer have the banner. 😢😢

Yes, it is! I also checked and the banner is missing! It is a pity! 😢

The Garden Baker: Thanks for your input – we will discuss and try to solve these “Who I Am Following”, “Who Faved My cake” and “Dates on Comments” questions. I will keep you updated.

June (“Clarky’s Cakes”) and Daphne: Daily Top 3 badge should be there. Take a look at the screenshot I uploaded in the comment above, where are they located ;)

Another thing that I would like to mention and would appreciate it if others would respond cause maybe it’s just me … but maybe it isn’t:
Prior to the change I found myself clicking and going in to see many more cakes than I do now. Maybe it’s because the cake icons were smaller so that I had to click to see anything that interested me a little bit better. Then once I had clicked, I usually commented … cause I was already there. Now after the change, and possibly because the size of the cake pics on the general page is larger (and clearer?) I find that I click less and therefore comment less. Maybe this is just me???? Also, I think that now not seeing the number of comments and faves on the general cake page may have something to do with this. Somehow seeing that others have commented and faved also encouraged me to do so. I wonder if the computer experts out there can tell us if there has been more (or less) activity in commenting and faving since the change.

It is all very confusing. I dip in and out it, as life gets busy .. and wow what’s happening ,it’s all changed and i really hope to be able to navigate it all soon, as simply as I did before .

I liked to see the number of comments and faves on the cakes it helped us seing what people like the most. Now you have any idea of that, unless you click on every single cake and it’s difficult to find time for doing that.
I also miss the top 15 cakes on the home page. I think that it helped more cakes being seen. Now there are only 3 on the main page and I feel that if you’re not lucky enough to get there quickly, your cake will just get lost on the feed of cakes and no one sees it… In addition, now only the Top 3 cakes are published in the facebook page, which leaves so many awesome cakes unseen.

Elisabete, the daily top 15 still exists exactly where it has always been.
As far as the “top 3” my complaint has been that there are always many more than 3 cakes on the top 3 page. For example: For Feb 16th there are 7 cakes that made it to “the top 3” that day. I have no problem with more cakes being there … but then the title for the page should be changed. Either that or the computer should only count the faves for each cake ever 24 hours instead of every hour :)
I do agree with you about liking to see the number of comments and number of faves for each cake on the main page.

Ok, that word “Badges” doesn’t appear on the current top 3 cake picture. Not on my tablet or iPhone. Not sure about my desk top computer?? Nor does “Badges” appear on any of my top 3 cakes on my page?? Sooooo, I’m perplexed????

Agree with The Garden Bakers last comments. And Bety’Sugarland/Elisabete about the CD fb cake posts. The top 15 use to be published. Now just top 3. Many lovely cakes missed.

The Garden Baker, yes you can check all the top 15 cakes if you enter the cakes ang go to the tab top 15, but not on the home page where they used to be. You can’t see the favorite cakes in a moment nor know when the cake was there.
As for the Daily top 3 being evaluated daily, I understand your question. When I first came to this group, some years ago, I didn’t understand the concept right away, but than I got it. This sistem gives the same chances to every single cake of reaching the Top 3 as the votes are counting during 24 hours for every cake. Imagine that the votes are counted at the end of each day, than a cake that was posted first thing in the morning will probably have much more comments and faves than a cake posted 20 minutes before the counting. i don’t think that is much fair, especially considering that we all are from differet parts of the world and and times are different from one another.

Betty, you are absolutely right! I didn’t think about that, re the “top 3”. Maybe they should just give it a different name, like “favorite cakes of the day” or something similar….

I think that many of the recent changes have many of us confused and not 100% happy!

Hey Ladies, we listened to your thoughts and here are some adjustments.

You can now see who do you follow in the Profile Dropdown

We added number of faves below the cake image. You can click it and see who faved the cake.

We added dates to comments

We added stats for cakes in listings

June (“Clarky’s Cakes”): since we added the faves stats below the cake picture, there was not enough space for badges anymore. We moved them to the sidebar
