Ballerina cake

Ballerina cake

My daughter has been taking dance lessons since she was 3 years old. Last year she was evaluated and accepted into the ballet “points” program. So when Peggy Does Cake came out with her ballet slipper tutorial, I purchased it immediately as I knew I wanted to make those dainty shoes for my daughter. I used the Moroccan Lattice from Marvelous Molds to make the top tier and loved the effect it gave. For the bottom tier, I experimented with a lot of ruffle options and finally settled on a technique using a 6-petal blossom cutter to give a tutu-inspired look. As usual, because it’s summer, my free time is borrowed from sleep. So although I would have liked to add a few more finishing touches, when the clock read 4:30am I decided I had to call it a night! But my daughter loved it nonetheless and I was happy to be able to make this for her. Hope you like it too xx

You must never limit your challenges, instead you must challenge your limits

It’s so beautiful! I’m sure your daughter was thrilled! I’m not sure what else you could have added, as it is stunning just as it is!! I’ve done those kind of ruffles before, and they take FOREVER!!
