Um, has this site been reported? Are they claiming it as their own? Or just sharing it with others? If they are posting as their own personal creation that is STEALING. Have they been asked to take it down?? Is it on facebook?

Hi Mandy… I have contacted a couple of peers… Veena & Rachel of The Fondant Flinger. They were both unaware of the infringement. Usually, I would ignore it, as it is normally little sites, trying to get somewhere…and I refuse to feed them, with publicity.
This site is 50,000+
They are downloading at a rate, that I couldn’t keep up with!
I’ll facebook message you, so you can scroll through, to see if any of yours are there.

Lucky all these pages at least watermark their cakes

I am only new at this still but would definately approach them. It is really not on that people claim your hard work as their own so they need to remove it and welcome to share under your name. Such a shame as everyone understands the hard work put in! Good luck xx

Would love to know who it is – there is one on facebook that also uses a lot of others pics as their profile pic. The one I know is https://www.facebook.com/pages/Najlepse-Torte-Beautiful-Cake/ She shares pics but the only problem is she downloads them first so the original artist gets no credit! I have gone in and commented on all the cakes that I found I knew and tagged their pages but it takes a very long time and cant afford to do it always – I have given up now – I have put messages to take the photos down – including mine but she just wont budge – I have also contacted fb but doesn’t look like they have done anything about it either!

I would love to know what this site is aswell.

She does say these are a collection of beautiful cakes from around the world…but why doesn’t she share from the page instead of downloading the photos and adding them…

The site that has come to my notice is Si Bô. If you click on the pics…it doesn’t go back to the original artist. It appears they are downloading them, and uploading back to their own page?

Don’t get me wrong… if they shared directly from pages, or tagged, they would have great potential to be well received….

This is terrible! I just looked this FB page! Mel, you are right! I can recognize some of the cakes I admire and I know who created these cakes! I noticed also there are no watermarks on some of them, look like they been deleted! How awful!!!

Unfortunately Bev, the extra traffic and controversy, would increase exposure, and probably end up in their favour.

Exactly as Julez said – the extra traffic they get end up in their favor. The best way is to not visit sites like that.

Samtastic cakes kindly told me when my cakes were on there and she also gave them a rollicking haha! Michal and Julez are right. Don’t boost the site by visiting it. Thanks for posting this Julez. xx

It looks like a lot of the pics are not downloaded direct from FB pages themselves (hence why they probably don’t link back), but instead they are probably downloading directly from sites we share to like here. I noticed that the one that Mel gave the link to, has cakes I downloaded ONLY here and don’t have my other cakes that I’ve not added here but are readily available on my FB page. Maybe Michal could make it so no one can download our pics? If not possible, at least if we watermark, then people will know who the original artists are.

Hi Violet… I don’t think Michal can fix it! I am not a tech head, and some computer stuff makes me look like a dunce!… but even I know how to do a screen shot!!!

It might slow them down because I’m sure it’s not screen shots and if they are made to HAVE to do screen shots, they might not be as willing to do it as they’d have to crop the hell out of them first haha…

By the way Julez, the site Mel gave has your cake with the bird on it (for a 50th I believe)…twice if I remember correctly…

I can’t access Najlepse since they got rollicked. Tried again just now on the new link from Mel, still no joy, I reckon they’ve banned me, which is rather a good thing!

I’ve seen a local cake maker here who posts pictures of cakes made by Tracy from Cotton & Crumbs and I did tell Tracy and she said there is nothing she can do; she mentioned it to FB but nothing was done!!

Hi Julez…once it’s happen to me that somebody steal my tutorial…i have my watermark and they cut it my logo and post it again as theirs…..luckly my friends help me to warning her and she took it off from her page. But probably someday this will be happen again.

I just viewd the FB page and its gots loads and loads of cake pics .

Its really quite shameful! Putting up pictures of so called cakes around the world, without giving due credit to the maker is nothing more than piracy!!

Believe this individual does not posses any ounce of talent and is just doing this, to gain more attention to her FB page.

This is such a terrible thing to hear about. We all work so hard on our cakes, this shouldn’t be happening!
I keep hearing about people stealing others photos, claiming that they made it themselves and then getting paid to make the cake at such a poor standard, they’re letting their customers down. No-one deserves that.

Laura, saw your cake pics on the FB page as well! Lots of pics from cakes decor are on that FB page!!

Hey Ladies – On that FB page – you can click on the settings(the gear icon on the right side next the “Message”) and report the page if it’s posting your cakes without giving you a credit.

Or you can go to specific post(picture) and click on the “down arrow” located on the top left of the post and choose report.

OK… I’m guilty… when Violet said my cake was there, I snuck over for a quick look… but didn’t see it, anyway. Maybe I just didn’t scroll back far enough. My computer is so slow… I’m running a dinosaur!!!
Thanks Michal…. for looking out for our rights, and giving some info on how to address the problem.
From a personal point of view… there are some absolutely awesome cakes there… if my work has improved enough, to be ripped off… the “inner me” is feeling a bit proud. I know… kinda wrong… but hey, honest right?

This shouldn’t be happening, but, we all know who the original artists are, that’s all that matters.

Just clicked and it says page may have been removed………please can someone post a tutorial on how to watermark your photos? I don’t know how to do that…….I would probably just open in paint and add wording??

Karen – you can use http://picmarkr.com/ – it’s simple and free.

For more complex solutions you need to have picture editing program – Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Fireworks …etc.

Hi Karen. I haven’t used picmarkr.
I use photoshop, by layering the logo over the original image, then reducing the opacity of the logo to 33%, using the erasor button. It’s what I am familiar with. I can do it really quickly now… 30 seconds?
If you are competant at installing new apps, then picmarkr is probably a better option… I’m still catching up with the younger generation!

Quite a few of my cakes are on there like my double sided super hero and my minion inc. I think it’s just a page that shares work I don’t think she claims to have made them. I agree tho it’s not nice that she hasn’t linked back to the original artists but my watermarks are all on there
