For many years I worked as a Garment Technologist for a high street clothing company. I always baked as a hobby, and often took cakes into work. They always went down well, and my work mates looked forward to sampling my cakes and trying out my new recipes and flavours. Then one day about 18mths ago I was asked to make a Wedding cake for a work colleague. That led to more orders and soon I was getting regular requests for special occasion cakes and cupcakes. So when my Mother became ill with Alhzeimers and needed help, it was obvious that leaving full time work and working from home was the way to go. I'm now living my dream and have my own cake business which works well alongside helping Mum when she needs me. Orders are going from strength to strength, and I'm entering my first cake competition in November at the NEC in Birmingham. I'm also going to be doing some Christmas Fayres and I've planned a Wedding fair stand for the New Year. I only wish I'd done this and followed my dream years ago. I may be a late starter, but I'm really excited about the future, and I look forward to every new cake I make and decorate. Cakes always make people happy, and I love to make people smile.
