Correct me if I’m wrong, but i read somewhere that you started cake decorating May 2014?? And now you are competing and won a merit!!! Wow you are amazing. There maybe some little mistakes on the cake,(I don’t see any BTW Lol), but this is a huge experience for you. And this beauty in less than a year caking.

For me this deserved more than a Merit. But take it as an experience. You done an amazing job. A big very well done. Congrats

Sawsen it’s sublime xx So beautiful, romantic and perfectly proportioned. It’s beautiful. I got merit both times I entered, I was really pleased to get that considering the standard there. But I won’t be entering again. Too stressful and I felt it took the enjoyment out of the project for me when I knew I was making something that was going to be scrutinised so hard. I get quite attached to my cakes and I don ‘t want to feel they’re not good enough. I can put myself through a hard time without anyone else doing that too. But I think you did a FANTASTIC job!!!!

Thank you everyone <3 Karen, I understand your feelings completely and initially I was demoralised by the intense scrutiny, but my approach to cake had always been more artistic than technical. I know there were small irregularities, so I have no problem accepting a critique of those; it’s just that to me cake is so much more than accuracy, it’s spirit and art which didn’t seem reflected much in the assessment. I love your cakes! I’ve never been one to value finding fault with beauty <3
