Fondant Recipe That Doesn't Crack

Hi everyone! I have been lurking around the community for a while and I think you are all amazing. I was hoping I could get some advice from you all and maybe an alternative recipe.

Right now I use marshmallow fondant, mostly just because it is so easy to make, and the recipe I use goes something like:

1 16 oz. bag of marshmallows
1/4 cup water
1 tbl vanilla
2 pounds of confectioners sugar (but of course I only add until the fondant feels right, usually less)

Pretty standard recipe. Usually I’ll use shortening to roll out, I use gel colors right now when coloring, I’m in Florida so it’s humid. I’m trying to think of what I’m doing that I always get this texture. My fix has been to knead in shortening but it doesn’t work well and invariably will crack soon after.

I have tried Michelle’s Fondant but honestly prefer the taste of marshmallow. Any one who has any opinions, I would greatly appreciate them! Thank you!

I would love to know also. I use the same recipe but add 1 tsp of corn syrup to my marshmallows after they are melted. Or i use Liz Mareks recipe if I have some wilton fondant.

So even with the corn syrup you have cracking?

I LOVE Liz Marek’s marshmallow fondant recipe! I have never had any problems since I started using this fondant! It’s easy to make too! Here is the link to her recipe:
