I read online that the only way to transfer an image to a cake is by using buttercream. I am not a fan of buttercream… I am also new at this. I started out just making my kids birthday cakes, and now I am making cakes for family and friends. I would love to try a transfer.
Could I using whipping icing for the whole cake, then just use buttercream for the transfer part? I really do not want to use buttercream on the whole cake. I would love to learn new and different ways to make other cakes.
You could use melted chocolate for a transfer, same method as a buttercream transfer. Candy melts come in all different colors or I’ve even used white candy melts mixed with gel colors. Just print your image backwards I’m sure there’s a tutorial on here somewhere.
Also you could use fondant. I would print your picture on card stock and use that as a template to cut out shapes, layer, whatever type of design your doing.
You could also use royal icing.
