Mac cake

Hi guys

This may be a bit ambitious as I haven’t made a cake with fondant yet. But I have bought the materials needed to design a mac cosmetics cake! I’m excited about this and have seen some really nice ones and hope for mine to be decent too. Only thing is, I see cardboard has been used with some of these cakes. Is it ok to use cardboard for the make up palette as I want it to be open for the colours to show. If anyone has done this cake before, please help me out! :)
