Can I mix airbrush color in whipped frosting

I making teal colored cupcakes for a birthday party i’m going to tomorrow and am using rich’s better creme non dairy whipped icing the kind that comes in a carton. Would it be okay if I used airbrush color to color my icing (was thinking to add the color when its still liquid form and then whip the icing) or would I be better off using regular food coloring or the wilton gel coloring? What should I do?
