Introducing myself
Hello everyone, I just thought I’d introduce myself seeing as I’ve just joined. My name’s Emma and I’ve just launched my cake decorating company (www.ermintrudescakes.co.uk). I’m excited to have started but at the same time a little anxious, as things are very slow starting up…Did anyone experience the same when they first started?

Hi Emma, welcome and wishing you all the best with your new venture. Many businesses begin with a slow trickle of orders but as your reputation and presence become more know things wil hopefully pick up!! :o) I’m sure those in commercial cakes will tell you more!

I have been building up my own business over the past two years – it can be so trying at times. One thought- marketing is so important in the beginning. Social media is good, but off-line marketing is important too. Identify your target market and let them know you are open for business. Good luck!

Hi Tammy, thanks for the advice. That’s always good to hear from people who have done it before! :-D. My knowledge of marketing is very limited, so I’m trying to do things that make sense, but feel like i’m feeling my way around in the dark! xox
