Want to start cake decorating business
Hi All,
I want to start a cake decorating business, but I am not sure how to start a home based cake business that will make a profit. How long does it take to see profit? Do most of you cakers keep your day job? Just basically want to know how can you make money in this type of business. Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi, I have a “regular” job in addition to a cake shop in my back yard. We set up a 14 × 24 building because I was running out of space in my kitchen. Word of mouth will get you lots of business if people are pleased AND your cake tastes good! I’m making pretty good $$$. I don’t advertise and I get all I can handle and have to turn orders down frequently and I live in a fairly small town! Good luck.
