getting "sharp" edges on your fondant

ok, i know this has come up already and Torta has made a turtorial and given some fantastic advice! but i think i found a product that will make some of your fondant decorating a little easier. i found this product but was a little reluctant in purchasing it because it was a little on the pricey side at $19.99. But, after ordering it i have absolutely NO regrets!!!! this little piece of plastic is a life and time saver. what is this miracle tool you ask? well, it’s the Sharp Top Edger by Edgers found at:

http://www.globalsugarart.com/product.php?id=19558&name=Sharp%20Top%20Edger%20by%20Edgers

i used it on a square “gift box” cake that i did and it is great. i did my buttercream layer using the upside down method and then did the sides of fondant using the “panel” method. the fondant lid is what i used the edger for and it took all of 2 mins if that!!! i can’t tell you what a great product this is. i haven’t tried it on a round cake yet, but i don’t foresee any problems arising using this tool.

Hope this helps some of you trying to achieve that “sharp” edge look on your fondant.

I just checked it out, and it looks like a pretty handy tool. They were out of stock right now, but I am definately going to try this. I just can’t get my edges sharp.

Thanks for sharing, Tammy! It does seem pricey for a little piece of plastic, but after reading your review it sounds very reasonable! Thanks again.

Hey, Toni. I don’t know how you feel about getting cake supplies off of eBay and from overseas, but I found one for about $17 including shipping:

Just thought I’d let you know. Looks like there was 5 to begin with in this auction, but now there’s only one left.
